INTRODUCTION TO NONFICTION WRITING FULL

Please write if you would like to join waitlist for the next one!

Saturday March 14, 11am-1:30pm

In this workshop we'll explore the many directions nonfiction writing can take—from life writing and memoir to travel writing, the personal essay, and microhistory. We'll look at an example of each form and follow it with a corresponding guided writing exercise. This workshop is an opportunity for writers to discover which kind of nonfiction writing resonates the most—and to leave with a strong starting point to continue writing after the workshop ends. 800 kr.

SPRING WRITING INTENSIVE - SUNDAYS IN MAY

Sundays, May 10, 17, 24, 31, 2:00-5:00pm, Valby

This four-week Sunday workshop in May is for six writers of all levels. Each three-hour session will begin with a craft discussion and generative writing prompts, and will be followed by focused workshop time where two to three writers receive in-depth feedback on their work. Writers may submit pieces up to 1800 words in advance of their workshop. And if you won't be in town for one or two of the Sundays, it is possible to join via video call.

This intensive is a warm, supportive space for experimentation, reflection, and creative growth where you will refine your voice, deepen your connection to readers, and develop a stronger, more resonant piece of writing. You will join a community of fellow writers in Copenhagen, and are welcome to keep sharing work with each other after the workshop ends. People from workshops in past years continue to meet up with each other today!

The price is 4000 kr including VAT, 12 hours of in-person instruction, personalized feedback on your pieces, coffee, tea, baked goods and a Maison Verb x MUJI writing notebook. It is possible to pay in two instalments—one in May, and one in June. I can also create an invoice for writers taking this course through work! I just ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit to secure a seat as space is quite limited.

TESTIMONIALS

"I have taken part in Fiona Picard's bi-weekly writing workshop since September 2022. Fiona has put in place the structures and processes that allow a dozen writers of varying levels - from beginners to published authors - to develop their craft and flourish as artists. She organises every two to three-hour session so that the writers can share their work and receive feedback; take part in spontaneous writing exercises; discuss writing techniques and share teaching materials. But most importantly, Fiona has built a community of trust, friendship, and collaboration. Each of us has found the confidence to share our work and open our hearts to feedback and support. If we believe that writing is not only a solitary endeavour but also one in which we learn from one another and share our ideas and inspiration, then Fiona's classes embody that ethos. We are lucky to have her."
