FALL WORKSHOP INTENSIVE, FULL

This four-week Sunday workshop is for six writers of all levels. Each three-hour session will begin with a craft discussion and generative writing prompts, and will be followed by focused workshop time where two to three writers receive in-depth feedback on their work. Writers may submit pieces up to 1800 words in advance of their workshop. This intensive is a warm, supportive space for experimentation, reflection, and creative growth where you will refine your voice, deepen your connection to readers, and develop a stronger, more resonant piece of writing. ​The price is 4000 kr including VAT, 12 hours of in-person instruction, personalized feedback on your pieces, coffee, tea, baked goods and a Maison Verb x MUJI writing notebook. MAISON VERB: HOLIDAY EDITION 

Sunday, December 6th, 2:30-5:30pm, Valby

​Inspired by Jane Alison’s book, Meander, Spiral, Explode, and the generative practices of the Surrealists, we will explore narratives that resist the traditional arc and instead wander, spiral, fragment, repeat, and surprise. Through a series of exercises and experiments, we will borrow from chance, constraint, association, and unexpected forms to find new ways into a story. Mulled wine, hot apple cider, and festive baked goods will be served, and at the end of the workshop we will gather our writing into a small book…something to keep for yourself or give as a gift for the holidays.

CHILDREN'S BOOK WORKSHOP SERIES, FOUR SUNDAYS

Jan 17, 24, 31 + Feb 7, 2:30-5:30pm, Valby

This four-week workshop is for six writers who want to take a children’s book from idea to polished manuscript. Focusing on books for ages 3–7, we will explore the craft of writing for young readers: finding the heart of a story, creating memorable characters, shaping plot and structure, and working with rhythm, repetition, and dialogue. 

 

We will also learn to think visually, exploring how words and images work together, how page turns shape a story, and how storyboarding can bring a picture book to life. Writing within such a small space is an exercise in distillation: every word counts. Learning to write with this kind of precision is a valuable practice for writers of any genre. 

 

The first Sunday will be a craft deep dive followed by generative exercises. If you don’t have an idea yet, we will find one in this first session! Over the following three weeks, we will weave craft discussions with focused workshop time, with each writer receiving feedback on their manuscript. In our final workshop, we will look at what comes next: preparing a manuscript for submission, approaching agents and publishers, and the possibilities of self-publishing. You will leave with a manuscript, a clear understanding of the picture-book form, and a path towards getting your story into readers’ hands. If you won't be in town for any of the Sundays, it is possible to join via video call.

Through this workshop, you will join a community of fellow writers in Copenhagen, and you are welcome to keep sharing work with each other after the workshop ends. People from workshops in past years continue to meet up today!
